Sam has extensive training in music theory, the Suzuki method, Alexander Technique and real-world experience playing orchestral, chamber, and solo music. Sam is good at balancing attention between elements of tone/technique and learning to make effective mental representation of the inner workings of the music. He is always trying to find new ways of thinking, learning and connecting with the student.
A typical lesson will start with a scale or easy piece and blossom from there into applications towards the current piece. Lessons include some sight reading and attention towards how to practice effectively.
In his spare time, Sam likes to bike as fast and as far as he can and go hiking in remote areas of nature. But he also enjoys contributing data to the ecosystem of machine learning that is YouTube.
