Melissa teaches young adults who are experiencing vocal issues, lacking artistic clarity, and feeling physical anxiety to come back to their body/mind and spirit in full autonomy so that they may feel empowered to live full and happy musical lives. She uses evidence based vocal pedagogy that ties together voice research, her vocal expertise and her student’s goals to produce sustainable and authentic vocal technique. She is especially gifted in teaching contemporary singing techniques (Musical Theater, Singer/Songwriter, Rock, Pop), and has a sweet spot in her heart for all things choral music.
In a lesson with Melissa, you can expect lots of smiles, laughter and exploration. Lessons always begin with a recap of the previous week and a discussion of any goals/needs that the student is looking to achieve in their session that day. The student and Melissa then navigate the rest of the session together, weaving in technical exercises and songs of the student's choosing. Students will leave each week with an individualized game plan of what to practice before the next week.
In her spare time, Melissa enjoys taking and teaching yoga, seeing live music, and playing with her three ridiculously cute cats.
